This website will cover what was learned over the course of my experience in ENG-3UI with projects, assignments, pictures and links to provide information about each topic. This website will analyze aspects of the three pieces of text read over the course of the semester; Macbeth, Indian Horse, and A Constellation of Vital Phenomena.
Throughout grade 11 university English class I learned a lot about the world and Canada. I enjoyed incorporating the real life events and situations into my school work. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was a main topic over the course and it became apparent to me that many parts of our country's past, and present, violates many of the basics rights everyone is entitled to. As someone who isn't a huge fan of reading, I enjoyed the books that were read over the semester. The class novel Indian Horse, written by Richard Wagamese, is a really good book to read as it opened my eyes to the past. I enjoyed learning about history of my country I had no idea even happened. For my independent novel I chose A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, written by Anthony Marra,an interesting book about how different types of people experience war and that war doesn't just involve guns and fighting. It let me look deeper into the UDHR and see just how easy it is to violate the articles stated within it. The other class study of Macbeth by Shakespeare, I found to be a good read especially since as it was easy to understand with the elaboration of important parts through work and discussions. The story line of Macbeth was better than I thought and I became quite interested in the read. For someone who doesn't love to read, the readings this semester were very intriguing and made picking up a book not as hard as previous years. I wouldn’t change much about this course but if I could change one thing I would suggest moving and assignment or two, such as the film review, to the beginning of the semester. I think this would allow for more time to be focused on the essays instead of the smaller projects. Overall this course taught me more than just English, it educated me on the world and country that I live in. This course has taught me a lot that will allow me to succeed in the future in not only English but in other classes as well. I don't necessarily want to pursue a future in English, however I think this class gave me skills I need to excel in my future education and career.
